Scaffolding Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our scaffolding services, pricing, and health & safety procedures.

commercial

Can you work outside normal business hours?

Yes. We can arrange out-of-hours erection and strike for commercial and retail sites where daytime access is restricted. Please discuss your requirements at the quote stage.

Do you provide public protection on commercial sites?

Yes. Where scaffolding is adjacent to public footpaths or highways, we install debris netting, scaffolding fans, and pedestrian protection as required by local authority and CDM regulations.

Can you provide a scaffold design drawing?

Yes. For complex or notifiable scaffolding structures, we provide scaffold design drawings and loading calculations. We work with structural engineers where required.

domestic

Do I need planning permission to erect scaffolding on my property?

In most cases, no. Temporary scaffolding is usually permitted development. However, if your property is listed or in a conservation area, you should check with your local council. We can advise you on this.

How long does it take to erect domestic scaffolding?

A standard domestic scaffold — such as access to a roof or side elevation — typically takes half a day to a full day to erect, depending on the size and complexity.

Can scaffolding damage my property?

When erected by a competent scaffolding contractor, damage should be minimal. We use rubber feet and protective sleeving on all contact points. We carry out a pre-erection condition survey and photograph the property before starting.

Will the scaffolding block my driveway or parking?

We plan every erection to minimise disruption. Where scaffold positions affect parking or access, we will discuss this with you in advance and can arrange traffic management if required.

No. Site surveys and quotations are provided free of charge with no obligation.

process

How far in advance do I need to book?

For standard domestic jobs, we typically book 1–2 weeks in advance. For larger commercial contracts, we recommend contacting us as early as possible. Emergency scaffolding is available 24/7.

What information do you need to provide a quote?

To quote accurately, we typically need: the type of work being carried out, the height and elevation(s) requiring access, the duration of hire, and the site address. Photos are helpful for straightforward domestic jobs.

What happens at the end of the hire period?

We will agree a collection date with you when the works are complete. We aim to strike the scaffold within 48–72 hours of notification that the access is no longer required.

Can I extend my scaffold hire if the job takes longer?

Yes. If you need to extend the hire period, contact us as soon as possible. We will advise on availability and any additional hire charges.

Do you remove all scaffold components when striking?

Yes. Our team will remove all tubes, fittings, boards, and associated components. We leave the site in a clean and tidy condition.

safety

What qualifications do your scaffolders hold?

All our scaffolders hold current CISRS (Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme) cards. Our team is regularly assessed to ensure competency and safety standards are maintained.

How do you ensure the scaffold is safe?

Every scaffold is erected in line with TG20 guidance and relevant British Standards. We carry out a handover inspection before the scaffold is handed to the client, and regular safety checks during the hire period.
